Afcon has recently received a 40ft container of Gulf O Flex insulation. This equates to 300 boxes of different sized quality insulation. We pride ourselves that we can always match your tubing insulation requirements. Our insulation is manufactured by Rubber World Industries in the UAE. The branded Gulf-O-Flex products are dust free, fibre free, CFC free, and has an ODP of zero for environmental friendly products and are resistant to mould and mildew. RWI supply 56% of the region’s requirements for rubber insulation products; and trade in the complete range of HVAC products exporting to USA, Europe, Africa and Far East Asia.

 

 

Once again Afcon is celebrating long service of staff members. Jane Bophela joined us in May 2005 and is now our Warehouse Assistant. Jane is a loyal member of staff who is always ready with a smile and a laugh. Thank you Jane for your loyalty. 

One of Afcon’s specialities is thermal storage, and no-one offers more technical experience than Dave Nichols. While working on a project lately he mused on the properties of ice and it is worth noting - the amount of energy that needs to be transferred to 1kg of ice in order to melt it is much higher than the energy needed to change the temperature of 1kg of water.

 

 

Every year Bitzer South Africa holds a staff and distributor’s training conference to ensure that knowledge on Bitzer products is up to date. This year AFCON were proud to have the conference held at Tala Game Reserve in KZN thus cementing our long term relationship with Bitzer. We were very pleased to welcome representatives from Germany, Dirk Schlehuber and Oliver Javerschek. Dirk is the Head of Customer Support for our region and Oliver is the Bitzer authority on CO2 plants. 

As summer draws to a close Afcon’s refrigeration division gears up for new equipment and maintenance sales. We have a number of large projects on the go incorporating our most prestigious brands – Cubicool, Bitzer and Onda.  It’s the Season to be jolly and the continued success of our partnership with Carel is seeing red boxes flying out the door! Afcon celebrates the Christmas colours with Bitzer green, Carel red and Sinro white. In order to meet customer requirements Afcon will be open throughout the Christmas season closing only on official public holidays and early on Christmas and New Year’s Eves. We would like to take this opportunity to once again thank our customers for their continued loyal support and our staff for the excellent service they always strive for.  Once again Afcon has something to celebrate! We are proud to have Dave Nicholls working with us for 10 years this year. Dave started in the industry 49 years ago, doing his apprenticeship with Barlows. Dave managed both Independent Refrigeration and Reco before joining forces with Afcon. He has brought a wealth of knowledge to Afcon which he shares willingly with colleagues and staff, as well as being highly respected in the refrigeration industry. On a lighter note, it is a pleasure working with Dave, he is always ready with a joke and a laugh. In November, Afcon will have a new member of staff. Lisa Ebbing has also been in the industry for many years and will compliment our already exceptional staff.

 

 

 

 It has been a busy year at Afcon. Winter has come and gone with hardly a pause in the pace of business. 

We are really pleased to have seen a large increase in our HYSAVE liquid amplifier pump sales – which proves that the benefits they offer through huge energy savings are really worth investigating. We have recently used Bitzer’s Greenpoint facility to overhaul three Open Drive Screw compressors for a marine application. It’s really comforting to know that Bitzer backs its compressors with both original spares and an in-house Germany approved repair facility in Joburg.

 

 

 This year Afcon Industrial Equipment is 20 years old. Afcon was opened by Mike Ladell in 1994 and has slowly grown. Neil Golten joined in 1996. Initially specialising in Heat Exchangers the company has become a fully fledged wholesaler of airconditioning and refrigeration equipment. Afcon prides itself on its “service delivery” and “customer relationships”. Afcon ensures that its response time for quoting and delivery is a priority.
